Years ago (e.g. at college, when this sort of thing came up), when given the choice between a “regular” meal or a vegetarian one, I would choose a vegetarian one. It wasn’t that I never ate meat, I just preferred a “plant-based” meal.
That’s kind of how I am about paleo right now. It’s not that I never eat rice-and-beans or even a slice of traditional sourdough once in a while. I’d just rather not, as a rule, eat beans and grains and refined sugars and processed frankenfood. My default is paleo.
This is one way we can identify with something, and be flexible, and not have to be all dogmatic about it all the time.
